Navigating the Eugene 08 Festival
When and where is the Festival? How much does it cost to get in?
The Eugene 08 Festival runs from June 27th through July 6th. The Festival is free and open to the public. It will be held in the area surrounding Hayward Field. There will be tents with activities, food & beverages and other interactive displays located along Agate Street and 15th Street. Additionally, the showcase of the Festival will be on the turf field between Hayward Field and the Student Rec Center. This area —dubbed Track Town Plaza— is where jumbo video screens will show live coverage of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field and the solar stage for entertainment and athlete interviews will be.
How will it impact streets in the surrounding neighborhood?
Certain roads in the area surrounding Hayward Field will be closed for approximately 10 days before and after the event. A map of road closures is here. The City of Eugene will be enforcing parking restrictions in the neighborhood during the event, with emphasis on safety violations (blocking a driveway or fire hydrant.)
What's the best way to get to the Festival?
Walk, ride a bike, take the bus or drive to a park and ride and take the free shuttle from Autzen Stadium or South Eugene High School. Area residents are encouraged to use the regular bus system including the free EmX buses which will drop riders off just 2 blocks from the Eugene 08 entrance. Lane Transit District (LTD) buses are free to all ticket-holders and volunteers. There is an interactive map on the LTD website which shows all the area park and rides and bus routes to Hayward Field.
What can people bring and not bring to Eugene 08? There is a list of items which are and are not allowed into the Festival and Hayward Field on the Eugene 08 website.
What will happen when people arrive at the Festival? Every person will go through a metal detector and his/her bag will be checked. There are dozens of entry lanes and more will be added as needed. Then you are free to wander around the entire Festival area.
How do residents & spectators find more info during the event? The Eugene 08 website will have the most up to date schedule of events and entertainment. Check it out at www.eugene08.com. In addition, there will be a telephone information line with a daily recorded message outlining activities and entertainment for that day. Call 541-743-8778.
