Final "Track Town Hall" of the Season Scheduled for Wednesday May 7th
A Town Hall featuring distance runners Andrew Wheating and Nicole Blood will be held next Wednesday, May 7 from 7 to 8 pm in the Bonus Room at the Student Recreation Center.
Both Wheating and Blood were honored as Pac-10 Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Oregon Relays.
Wheating, a sophomore from Norwich, Vt., won the mile Saturday night at the Oregon Relays in a time of 3:58.16. Converted to a 1,500 meter time of 3:39.96, it ranks as the top mark in the Pac-10 this season and second nationally, and is also 11th all-time among Oregon milers. He’s the first native of Vermont to run a sub-4:00 mile.
Blood, a sophomore from Simi Valley, Ca., ran the fastest 1,500 meter time in the Pac-10 this season with a clocking of 4:18.55 Friday at the Oregon Relays. Her time ranks sixth nationally, and is the seventh-best time in Oregon history. Blood also owns the Pac-10’s best time this season in the 5,000 meters, 15:43.82, ran last week at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Additionally, members of the Eugene 08 Steering Committee will be available to answer questions about final preparations for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field and the Eugene 08 Festival.
